Towards the Full Mordell-lang Conjecture for Drinfeld Modules

Let φ be a Drinfeld module of generic characteristic, and let X be a sufficiently generic affine subvariety of Ga. We show that the intersection of X with a finite rank φ-submodule of Ga is finite. Mathematics Subject Classification Number: Primary 11G09; Secondary 11G10.

We present a Mordell-Lang statement for Drinfeld modules. In the case of Drinfeld modules of finite characteristic, we show the connection between our Mordell-Lang statement and the study of the ring of quasi-endomorphisms for a certain minimal group in the theory of separably closed fields associated to the Drinfeld module.

We define the Mordell exceptional locus Z(V ) for affine varieties V ⊂ Ga with respect to the action of a product of Drinfeld modules on the coordinates of Ga. We show that Z(V ) is a closed subset of V . We also show that there are finitely many maximal algebraic φmodules whose translates lie in V . Our results are motivated by DenisMordell-Lang conjecture for Drinfeld modules.

We study the quasi-endomorphism ring of certain infinitely definable subgroups in separably closed fields. Based on the results we obtain, we are able to prove a MordellLang theorem for Drinfeld modules of finite characteristic. Using specialization arguments we prove also a Mordell-Lang theorem for Drinfeld modules of generic characteristic.
